The mark, within the title given here, of substitutability, equivalence, variability, alternation, denomination or parataxis. It is not a matter of a simple assertion, symbolic or encoded by means of a graphic symbol, of identity or identicality, even as these terms or concepts (identity or identicality) are implied or implicated in or by the form of such an algorithm. The identity or identicality of certain forms of inscription, of "encryption," is nonetheless what is under contest in the various discussion pieces assembled here, for better or for worse, under the title CODEWORK / SURVEILLANCE.
