Rui Torres

Rui Torres holds a Ph.D. in Luso-Brazilian Literature (UNC - Chapel Hill, USA, 2002). He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Foundation for Science and Technology (COS - PUC-SP, Brazil, 2005-07) and holds Habilitation in Information Sciences - Multimedia Studies (UFP, Porto, 2013).

He is a Professor of Communication Sciences at University Fernando Pessoa (UFP), where he teaches seminars in semiotics, literature, and hypermedia at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also served as a Visiting Professor in M.A. programmes at NOVA University of Lisbon (Portugal), the University of Santiago de Compostela and the University of Granada (Spain), UNAM (Mexico), and the University of Tallinn (Estonia). He was a Lecturer in the Erasmus Intensive Program in European Digital Literatures at the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain).

He is the Director of the book series Cibertextualidades (FFP Press) and co-editor of the Electronic Literature Series (Bloomsbury Publishing). He is a member of several editorial boards and scientific committees for academic journals and conferences.

Rui Torres is Member of the Board of Directors of the Electronic Literature Organization (ELO). He is an Integrated Member of ICNOVA - NOVA Institute of Communication. Additionally, he was the Principal Investigator of the projects PO.EX'70-80: Digital Archive of Portuguese Experimental Literature (2010-13) and PO.EX CD-ROM: Portuguese Experimental Poetry, Books and Catalogs (2005-08).
